At Restorative Health Center, we understand that nutrition is not one-size-fits-all.

Two people can eat similar diets, take similar supplements, and have completely different nutritional needs. That is why our nutritional approach focuses on the individual rather than simply recommending the same supplement protocol to everyone.

Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) is one of the tools we may use as part of our nutritional evaluation process.

What Is Nutrition Response Testing?

Nutrition Response Testing is a non-invasive system that uses a form of muscle testing as part of an assessment designed to help the practitioner develop an individualized nutritional program.

During an NRT evaluation, the practitioner uses specific testing procedures and observes changes in muscle response while evaluating different areas and nutritional considerations.

Nutrition Response Testing does not replace laboratory testing, medical diagnosis, or appropriate medical care.

Instead, it is one component of our overall nutritional approach.

What Does an NRT Visit Look Like?

We start by talking with you.

We want to understand your nutritional history, current diet, lifestyle, supplements, wellness goals, and other relevant information.

Depending on the type of visit and the patient's individual circumstances, our evaluation may incorporate:

• Nutrition Response Testing
• Muscle testing
• Dietary and lifestyle review
• Review of current supplements
• Review of available laboratory results when appropriate
• Whole-food nutritional recommendations
• Individualized supplement recommendations when appropriate
• Follow-up evaluations to determine whether recommendations should be modified

Rather than simply handing every patient the same list of supplements, our goal is to develop nutritional recommendations based on the individual.

Whole-Food Nutrition

Food is foundational.

Supplements are intended to supplement an appropriate diet—not replace it.

Our nutritional approach emphasizes whole foods and individualized nutritional support.

When supplementation is appropriate, recommendations may include whole-food-based nutritional products, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, or other nutritional products based upon the individual's nutritional program.

Following Your Progress

Nutrition isn't necessarily a single appointment.

Nutritional needs, dietary habits, lifestyle factors, and wellness goals can change over time.

Follow-up visits allow us to review how a patient is doing, discuss adherence to nutritional and lifestyle recommendations, reassess the nutritional program, and make changes when appropriate.

When laboratory testing is available or appropriate, those findings may also provide useful information that can be considered alongside the patient's history and nutritional evaluation.

Nutrition Response Testing vs. Muscle Testing

Although Nutrition Response Testing incorporates muscle-response assessment, NRT and general muscle testing aren't necessarily interchangeable terms.

Muscle testing describes a broader assessment method.

Nutrition Response Testing is a structured system that incorporates muscle testing as part of a specific nutritional assessment process.

That is why we provide separate information about both services.

Our Approach

Our goal isn't to chase symptoms with an endless list of supplements.

We want to understand the patient's nutritional picture, identify areas where nutritional or lifestyle support may be appropriate, and develop a realistic plan that can be reassessed over time.

We believe patients should understand why nutritional recommendations are being made, how they fit into their overall wellness plan, and when additional evaluation by another healthcare provider may be appropriate.

Nutrition Response Testing and nutritional services are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease and are not substitutes for appropriate medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment.
